Summary:
On April 12, 2024, House Bill 601 was signed by the Governor, creating Florida Statutes Section 30.61, effective July 1, 2024. House Bill 601 expressly permits the Chief of Police to establish a civilian oversight board to review the policies and procedures of his or her department and its subdivisions. Article V of Chapter 48 of the Code of the City of Orlando must be amended to comply with Florida law. |
