Wag Bar, LLC has applied for assistance through the City of Orlando Business Assistance Program (BAP) for right-of-way improvements at 724 Brookhaven Drive. The business is undertaking redevelopment of a former warehouse site. Total capital investment for the project is more than $2.8 million, which includes interior, exterior and public right of way improvements. The project is located within the Ivanhoe Village Main Street boundary. Wag Bar, LLC also owns the property.
The BAP is a matching grant program designed to encourage small businesses to locate, expand, or redevelop in the City of Orlando. The BAP was approved by the Orlando City Council on June 18, 2001. The BAP assists with small-scale infrastructure projects, building permitting fees and impact fees. The BAP pays fifty percent of eligible fees. The maximum amount granted under the program guidelines is $20,000.
On October 5, 2020, City Council approved an amendment to the BAP and the Small Business Façade, Site Improvement and Adaptive Reuse Program (FSARP) that will allow recipients of FSARP to receive up to $20,000 in BAP assistance if BAP funds are being used for right-of-way improvements that are required by the City, regardless of the amount of assistance awarded under the FSARP. This includes, but is not limited to, street lighting and fire hydrant installation/relocation, sidewalk repairs; traffic signalization; water and sewer line construction, removal or relocation; curb, gutter, street improvements and landscaping.
On December 6, 2021, Wag Bar, LLC received City Council approval for $50,000 of funding through FSARP. To further assist with City mandated improvements to the public right-of-way, Wag Bar, LLC is applying for funding through BAP. Total eligible project costs for Wag Bar, LLC under the BAP for Public Right of Way Improvements are $40,042. The BAP will pay 50% of eligible fees, up to $20,000. Total City Assistance will be $20,000.
