The National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) has awarded a $40,000 grant to the Families, Parks and Recreation Department (FPR) to install adjustable basketball goals in the gymnasium at Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center. The new adjustable goals will allow younger children and people with mobility issues the ability to learn and participate in the sport and will also allow Center staff to expand basketball programming. NRPA requires a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) be signed before releasing grant funds to the City.
