Summary:
The City of Orlando’s Families, Parks and Recreation Department, Orlando Community & Youth Trust, and CareerSource Central Florida will collaborate to offer a City of Orlando Summer Youth Employment Program (“Summer Program”) to youth during the Summer of 2019. The Summer Program will employ 400 youth who reside within the boundaries of the City of Orlando.
Of the 400 youth to be employed as part of this program, CareerSource will directly fund employment for up to 250 youth, at a rate of $11.00 an hour for a maximum of thirty (30) hours per week for seven (7) weeks. The remaining 150 youth will be hired and funded through the City of Orlando and/or the Orlando Community & Youth Trust, using funds already allocated for this purpose in each organization's respective budget.
Since it is anticipated that some of the 250 youth hired and paid for by CareerSource will work at City of Orlando sites in the Families, Parks and Recreation Department, the City will also need to execute the attached Worksite Agreement (entitled Internship Program - Career Conextions), which will qualify the City to serve as a host worksite.
The Summer Program will also offer mentoring, occupational skills training, leadership development, and financial literacy education to participating youth. |
