The Creative Village Streetscape Design Guidelines recommend that a specific tree grate designed and produced by Iron Age Designs be added to tree wells to expand the pedestrian travel area of the sidewalks while still integrating street trees. Careful consideration was taken to select a tree grate that is not only aesthetically appropriate, but also pedestrian-friendly.

CRA staff is interested in procuring 145 cast iron 5’x5’ tree grates and 99 grate frames for the remaining tree wells on North Terry Avenue and West Livingston Street in Creative Village in preparation for the grand opening of the Downtown Campus for UCF and Valencia College in August 2019. In addition, the grates will also allow for new streetscape treatments that will frame and complement the forthcoming Creative Village Central Park and improved streetscapes along West Amelia Street and Ronald Blocker Avenue.

Authorize the City’s Chief Procurement Officer to enter into a contract with Iron Age Designs for an initial term of three years with the first order of approved tree grates for the Creative Village site in the estimated amount of $219,121.00 with the option to make additional orders at the prices specified therein throughout the term of the contract, subject to the review and approval of the City Attorney’s Office.
