Summary:
Upon being selected as one of the first ten cities to take part in the City Energy Project in January 2014, the City of Orlando was awarded a grant of $195,000. This partnership and grant support has allowed the City of Orlando to pursue the recommendation set forth in the City’s Community Sustainability Action Plan (2013) to adopt a policy for building benchmarking and reporting, auditing, and retro-commissioning—to increase the energy and water efficiency of Orlando buildings and achieve our goals of social, environmental, and economic sustainability. To date, the City has utilized $129,700 of the total grant funding, which has supported staff in the stakeholder engagement, policy development, and approval processes, as well the first year of policy implementation. The $65,300 requested through the Energy Foundation grant represents the remaining funds from the original City Energy Project grant. These funds will be used to continue support staff as well as purchase the necessary technology and software services in the continued implementation of the policy. |
