Cities of Service Grant Amendment for Orlando Cares: The Garden Program

Summary:
Cities of Service, Inc. awarded a grant to the City's Orlando Cares: The Garden Program in the amount of $25,000 to support the continuation of this impact volunteering initiative, which began in 2011. This funding recognizes Orlando's commitment to engaging volunteer mentors with youth in an after school program that helps participants learn how to grow healthy food in container gardens, hydroponic systems and raised beds, while promoting healthy lifestyles and wellness.

Fiscal & Efficiency Data: Grant funds in the amount of $25,000 have been dedicated to the materials and costs required for the Garden program initiative. No budget changes are associated with this council agenda item.

Recommended Action:

Approve extension of grant's term. The grant term was scheduled to conclude on July 31, 2018. The grant term has been extended by the grantor to end on December 31, 2018. 

Also requesting approval for Marcia Hope Goodwin, Director, Office of Community Affairs, authority to sign any minor amendments after review by the City Attorney's Office and notice to the grants coordinator.
