Subject:
An Ordinance No. 2017-64 Amending the Sign Code Creating the Milk District Banner District (Economic Development)

Summary:

The City is proposing to add the new Milk District Main Street program to the areas where street pole banners are allowed to better brand the District. Since the management of the street pole banners is a joint effort of the non-profit Milk District Main Street, utilizes poles owned by the Orlando Utility Commission, and utilizes portions of the City’s rights of way, it has been necessary to codify the locations where street pole banners are allowed.

To date, the City has several locations where street pole banners are allowed:

  • Audubon Park
  • College Park
  • Downtown South (SODO)
  • Ivanhoe Village
  • Mills 50
  • Semoran Blvd
  • Downtown
  • Orlando Health Campus (within SODO)
  • Florida Hospital (allowed by DRI conditions).

Thus, the Milk District will become the tenth area in the City to allow street pole banners.
