Summary:

The City Attorney's Office is requesting the award of an agreement to West Publishing Corporation, a part of Thomson Reuters, for online legal research (Westlaw) and legal publication services.  These services provide access for the City's attorneys and paralegals to state and federal legal databases and printed legal research tools.  

In accordance with Section 2510.2 of City Policies and Procedures regarding the procurement of goods and services, legal services are exempt from the competitive solicitation requirements and the City Attorney’s Office recommends approval and execution of the attached contract.  The contract is for a period of five (5) years commencing October 1, 2017.  The estimated amount of the contract is $55,000 per year with a 1% increase for each year. Actual annual expenditures may vary and are relative to the databases and services accessed.

M/WBE is not applicable.

Recommended Action:

Authorize the Chief Procurement Officer to execute a contract and Order Form with West Publishing Corporation, as indicated above, subject to review and approval of the City Attorney's Office.
