Lake Eola Sunday Market Fee Waiver

Summary:

The Lake Eola Sunday Market, through a contract with the Downtown Development Board (DDB), has requested use of the International Bridge, International Plaza and Washington Street Cul-de-Sac areas at Lake Eola Park on a weekly basis throughout the 2017-2018 fiscal year. The areas requested will be utilized between the hours of 7 am to 6 pm on Sundays, to provide visitors high quality products and services. The total rental fee for FY17-18 is calculated at $123,650, which the Families, Parks and Recreation (FPR) seeks to waive.

FPR traditionally seeks City Council approval for fee waivers that exceed $50,000, and is thus seeking Council approval of this waiver.  The Sunday Market has become a vibrant amenity, heavily attended by residents, that increases positive utilization of the City's signature park. Additionally, the DDB has contributed to improvements at Lake Eola Park, including purchase of the park Christmas tree and sponsorship of Holiday Movies at the Park.

Fiscal & Efficiency Data: See attached.

Recommended Action:
Approve a fee waiver in the amount of $123,650, for the Downtown Development Board (DDB) to use the International Bridge, International Plaza and Washington Street Cul-de-Sac areas at Lake Eola Park, on Sundays, for the purpose of the Sunday Market.
