Subject:Ordinance No. 2017-44 Rezoning the ±64.716-acre previous Wet ‘n Wild property, AC-3/SP to PD/SP (ZON2017-00017) (Economic Development, District 6)
Summary:

The attached ordinance will rezone a ±64.716-acre property from AC-3/SP (Metropolitan Activity Center in the North International Drive Special Plan Overlay) to PD/SP (Planned Development in the North International Drive Special Plan Overlay). The multiple properties are generally located south of International Dr., west of S. Kirkman Rd. and southeast of Interstate 4. The applicant is John McReynolds, Sr. Vice President, Universal Parks and Resorts.  The project consists of a Framework PD for the redevelopment of the former Wet N' Wild water park site with up to 4,000 hotel rooms, attraction and resort uses.  Individual Administrative Master Plans would come forward for each phase of the development.  The request also includes a partial abandonment of Precision Dr. (ABN2017-00001).

The Municipal Planning Board recommended approval of this item at its June 2017 meeting. City Council approved the MPB minutes for this item, as well as the rezoning ordinance on first reading, on July 10, 2017.

Recommended Action:

Adopt the attached Ordinance No. 2017-44 and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk or Mayor Pro Tempore and City Clerk to execute on behalf of the City upon final review and approval by the City Attorney.
