Summary:
The City is developing a mandatory commercial and multi-family recycling program that will be phased in over several years. Until now, City code has only required properties be constructed with a garbage container location, with this change new development will be required to also locate a recycling container. Many businesses will be required to retrofit a recycling facility. Less than half of the commercial and multi-family properties in the City participate in recycling. It will take significant staff assistance to help businesses smoothly retrofit their properties with recycling locations.
The Solid Waste Division will lead the implementation of the Commercial and Multi-Family Recycling program and has selected Mr. Joseph England as a Sustainability Project Manager to support this effort. Mr. England will work full-time, with benefits, for an hourly rate of $30.35. His contract will expire in 2 years. |
