Summary:
On August 29, 2011, City Council approved the standardization of Motorola radio equipment and services for use by for Orlando Police Department, Orlando Fire Department and general employees. On September 15, 2016, City Council approved the current contract with Motorola for 800 MHz radio maintenance, repairs and support for a six (6) year term.
Orlando Police Department is now requesting approval for an agreement with Motorola Solutions, Inc. to install a new radio tower at Lake Nona. Motorola Solutions, Inc. will relocate existing City equipment currently in storage and install it in the new Motorola Standard Building shelter in Lake Nona, install a new microwave hop to Pershing, and install a 200-foot self-supported tower with light in Lake Nona.
The estimated amount for the equipment and installation services is $1,399,990. The estimated amount for subsequent maintenance is $78,000 per year and will be included under the existing contract with Motorola Solutions, Inc. for radio maintenance and repairs.
