Summary:
The purpose of the local funding agreement (LFA) with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is to upgrade traffic signals to mast arms and certain pedestrian crosswalks with stamped asphalt. This work is part of the FDOT project 239496-3 to widen John Young Pkwy (SR 423) from north of Colonial Dr to Shader Rd. This is a complement to the previous work north of Shader Rd.
The City executed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with FDOT in 2013 to upgrade the traffic signal reconstruction from the FDOT's standard standard concrete strain poles and span wires to the City's standard painted steel mast arms. The City also requested FDOT to construct enhanced pedestrian crosswalks by using stamped asphalt, as the City has built a numerous intersections. FDOT agreed to include these into the project contingent on the City paying the additional costs. |
