Summary:
Mayor Dyer will call on Marcia Hope Goodwin, the City's Chief Service Officer and Director of Community Affairs & Human Relations, to introduce the proclamation. National Volunteer Month inspires, recognizes and encourages everyone to find meaningful ways to engage in and serve their communities. Each April, Orlando celebrates and honors volunteers and national service members who support worthwhile activities in Orlando. The City of Orlando is committed to encouraging volunteerism among its employees, citizens and partners. The City is proud to be a Cities of Service Leadership City, engaging volunteers and national service members in Orlando Cares: Orlando's impact volunteering program, Operation Americorp, the Orlando Partnership for School Success (OPASS) and many other city operations. The city values its volunteers and national service members and encourages all residents to volunteer, which raises awareness of how volunteers and national service members improve lives. Ms. Goodwin will introduce the volunteers and national service groups present before the Mayor reads the proclamation and takes a photo with the group. |
