Summary:
The Water Environment and Reuse Foundation, "WERF", is a nonprofit organization that conducts research to treat and recover beneficial materials from wastewater, stormwater and sea water. WERF also plays an important role in the dissemination of applied research, technology demonstration and education, including the feasibility of new technologies and the economic value and environmental benefit of wastewater. The City of Orlando is a member of WERF and has been asked to participate in the Hypowers Project, (Hydro Thermal Processing of Wastewater Solids) whereby wastewater is converted into usable fuels. The City's participation in the Hypowers Project would consist of the utilization of City facilities for implementation of WERF technologies. As a condition of the City's participation in the Project, WERF is requiring all parties to enter into a Intellectual Property Management Plan to ensure compliance with federal law with respect to protected data and proprietary information that may be transmitted as part of the Project. |
