Summary:
For the past two years, the Orlando City Council has approved an Agreement with the Orlando Repertory Theatre ("the REP") to offer an intensive arts residency program for youth who attend afterschool programs at specified City recreation centers. Each year, the program has successfully culminated in showcase performances in the REP Theatre.
The attached Agreement will allow the REP to operate its Third Annual Rockin’ REP Fest, in collaboration with the Families, Parks and Recreation Department, utilizing the same model as in 2015 and 2016. This year, the program will operate at the Dr. James R. Smith Community Center, Northwest Community Center, Colonialtown Neighborhood Center, and Engelwood Neighborhood Center.
REP artists will provide instruction in theater arts for youth at a time agreed upon by each party during the months of February through April, 2017. At the end of the program, participants will showcase what they have learned with performances in the REP's Universal Theatre, scheduled for Friday April 21, 2017.
The REP will provide all teaching artists and supplies for the program. If any incidental costs are incurred by the City, they will be covered via the participating centers’ existing afterschool program budgets.
In accordance with the terms of this Agreement, City Council also authorizes the Director of Families, Parks and Recreation to sign any renewals of this Agreement provided they are under substantially the same terms and conditions as this original Agreement. |
