Summary:
The BLUEPRINT is the City of Orlando's economic plan associated with building the Community Venues (the Amway Center, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Orlando Citrus Bowl reconstruction and MLS). The BLUEPRINT Program Office provides assistance to minority and women-owned businesses; monitors and enforces MWBE and Responsible Contractor policies; and, provides employment and training opportunities for the target population: residents of Parramore, ex-offenders and homeless persons.
Since 2014 the City has leased space inside the NCR Orlando Building at 617 N Magnolia Ave for BLUEPRINT’s program office and training facility. The Lease expired on December 31, 2016. However, with construction of phase II of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts commencing in 2017, BLUEPRINT has a need to extend the term of the Lease.
As provided in the attached Amendment No. 1 to Lease Agreement (Amendment) the lease term will be extended for approx one (1) year commencing on January 9, 2017 and ending on December 31, 2017, and may be extended again for two (2) additional terms of up to six (6) months each. Rent shall continue to be $3,399 per month for the approx 3,000 sqft space and utilities (excluding phone and internet) shall be $500 per month beginning on January 1, 2017. Either party may terminate the agreement with ninety (90) days written notice.

Recommended Action:
Approval and authorization for the Mayor/Pro Tem and City Clerk to execute the Amendment, substantially in the form attached, and authorization, without further City Council approval, for the Real Estate Division Manager to execute the renewal options, so long as such approvals are in conformance with the terms and conditions of the Lease, all subject to the review and approval of the City Attorney’s Office. |
