Subject:Ordinance No. 2016-88 Amending the Growth Management Plan (GMP) by Adopting the 2017 Winter Cycle of GMP Amendments. (Economic Development)
Summary:

The attached ordinance includes the Winter cycle of GMP amendments for the 2017 calendar year.  A summary of the proposed amendments is attached.

  • GMP2016-00014, OIA East Airfield - GMP amendment to change the future land use designation from Airport Support District-High Intensity to Airport Support District-Medium Intensity for ±813 acres & to change the future land use designation from Public/Recreational/Institutional to Metropolitan Activity Center for ±5.45 acres.  The property is generally located west of Narcoossee Road, north of Lake Nona, east of Heintzelman Boulevard and south of the Beachline Expressway (SR 528).
  • GMP2016-00019, Parramore Subarea Policy - Create GMP Future Land Use Subarea Policy S.6.15 to implement the Parramore Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan – Community Vision Plan by encouraging residential redevelopment in the area surrounding the PS-8 Community School.
  • GMP2016-00020, Historic Preservation Element - Amend Historic Preservation Element Figure HP-2 to reflect recent changes in landmark status for various sites.

Recommended Action:

Approval of the attached ordinance number 2016-88 on first reading and request that the Mayor and City Clerk present the draft ordinance for second reading and public hearing at a future City Council meeting after review by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
