Housing Rehabilitation Cost at 427 Sunset Dr.
Summary:

The City of Orlando’s Amended 2015-2018 Local Housing Assistance Plan includes a limit of $75,000 for owner-occupied housing rehabilitation. A home at 427 Sunset Dr. was approved for rehabilitation in the amount of $38,181.85. After the repair work had begun, it was determined that the structural integrity of the home had been compromised by significant termite damage.  Staff believes the work necessary to restore the structural integrity of the home may cause the total cost of this rehabilitation to exceed the $75,000 limit. In order to proceed with the rehabilitation without interruption, staff is requesting approval to exceed the $75,000 cap if required to ensure the home is safe and inhabitable. 
Fiscal & Efficiency Data: This project will be funded through the SHIP program Grant #HSG0173_G. Sufficient funds are available to cover these costs.
Recommended Action:
Approval by the City Council to exceed the current cap of $75,000 for rehabilitation of the home located at 427 Sunset Dr.
