Summary:
The Orlando City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2016-58 in July of this year. The ordinance established a temporary moratorium on the opening of new cannabis dispensing facilities, and also on the expansion or relocation of any existing (or grandfathered) cannabis dispensing facilities. The moratorium expires on January 1, 2017. The ordinance also directed the planning official to research and then propose permanent land development regulations for cannabis dispensing facilities by December 1, 2016. Proposed Ordinance No. 2016-92 would extend the temporary moratorium until July 1, 2017 and would give the planning official until June 1, 2017 to propose permanent land development regulations to the Council. |
