Summary:

On March 18, 2016, Orange Preservation Trust applied to the City of Orlando to designate certain real property belonging to the City of Orlando as an Orlando Historic Landmark located at 512 E. Washington Street, in Downtown Orlando.  The property is comprised of approximately 0.3 acres and includes a Mediterranean Revival Style historic home built in 1924, located in Lake Eola Park. The structure is significant for the history, culture, integrity of location, design, materials and association with significant people in Orlando's past.  512 E. Washington Street meets the criteria A, B, and C in Section 65.720 in Orlando City Code.

At its regular meeting of May 4, 2016, the City of Orlando Historic Preservation Board (the "HPB") held a public hearing on the request of the Applicant to designate the Property as an Orlando Historic Landmark, and after a review of the documented evidence and upon Consideration of the criteria provided by Section 65.720, Orlando City Code, the HPB recommended by unamimous voice vote that the Orlando City Council designate the property as an Orlando Historic Landmark because the Property meets Criteria A, B, and C.

At its regular meeting of July 19, 2016, the City of Orlando Municipal Planning Board (the "MPB") held a public hearing on the request of the Applicant to designate the Property as an Orlando Historic Landmark, and after a review of the documented evidence and upon Consideration of the criteria provided by Section 65.720, Orlando City Code, the MPB recommended by unanimous voice vote that the Orlando City Council designate the property as an Orlando Historic Landmark.
