Summary:

Florida Citrus Sports is a not-for-profit member-based organization dedicated to increasing community spirit and pride, promoting tourism, stimulating economic development and ultimately benefiting charities, educational institutions and the quality of life in Central Florida through its signature events. These include Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, Russell Athletic Bowl, Florida Blue Florida Classic and the Florida Citrus Parade.

The City's contribution of $50,000 will assist Florida Citrus Sports in supporting two of their four signature events: Russell Athletic Bowl (operated by Tangerine Sports Association) and the Florida Citrus Parade (operated by Florida Citrus Sports Events). In exchange for this contribution, the City will receive four (4) (10) second promotional mentions featuring the City of Orlando during the Russell Athletic Bowl game telecast; a Citrus Float Entry in the annual Florida Citrus Parade; one full minute of television exposure of the City of Orlando float during the parade; and one (1) 30 second television commercial during the syndicated Florida Citrus Parade broadcast. 

Special event funding in the amount of $10,000 from the Downtown Development Board, to support the Florida Citrus Parade, was approved at the September 28, 2016 board meeting and is included in the attached agreement.

Recommended Action:
Approval of the 2016-2017 Funding Agreement between the City of Orlando, The Downtown Development Board, the Tangerine Sports Association, Inc. and the Florida Citrus Sports Events, Inc. and authorization for the Mayor to execute the funding agreement subject to the review and approval by the City Attorney's Office.
