Summary:
Florida Classic Consortium is seeking to continue its partnership with the City of Orlando during the 37th Annual Florida Blue Florida Classic (previously known as the Florida Classic). The City of Orlando has been the home of this outstanding and historic event for the past 19 years. We have witnessed its great success over the years among its many events that comprise the Classic weekend. Such events: a Kickoff Luncheon, the Battle of the Bands, and culminating on November 19th with the FAMU versus Bethune-Cookman University Football. It has evolved into more than just a football game and more than just an instate rivalry. This game is recognized as one of the pre-eminent football games and the largest football game between two historically Black colleges. An estimated attendance of 100,000 will attend a variety of events relating to the Florida Blue Florida Classic over the four day period. According to Florida Citrus Sports Program Report, since 1997, a total of 1,159,915 fans have watched the Florida Classic in the Camping World Stadium, an average of 64,439 per year, estimated impact to local hotel room nights were over 37,000 with an estimated total economic activity of over $28,000,000. |
