Summary:
The proposed ordinance will amend City Code Section 64.320—Regional Public Facility Identification Signage.
The existing code recognizes the importance and special position of such buildings as they serve the greater metropolitan area and tourist population. Accordingly, it provides for additional signage for regional public landmarks beyond that allowed for other uses such as commercial establishments. Only publicly-owned facilities are currently eligible.
The version considered by the MPB required any privately owned facility to have seating for at least 25,000 people. The attached version requires seating for at least 20,000 people to better reflect the needs of the professional soccer stadium. Finally, the amendment stipulates that the section applies only to facilities within the downtown CRA,whether publicly or privately owned. |
