On July 11, 2011, City Council approved contracts with Waste Services of Florida, Inc. (currently Progressive Waste Solutions of Florida, Inc.) and Waste Management, Inc. of Florida to provide Processing and Disposal of Municipal Solid Waste services.  The contract term was for an initial three (3) year period, with two (2) twelve (12) month extensions. 

Solid Waste Management Division is requesting approval to extend the contracts with Progressive Waste Solutions of Florida, Inc. and Waste Management, Inc. of Florida for five (5) months until December 31, 2016.  The extension is requested to allow sufficient time to prepare a new solicitation with significant scope changes and to award a new contract.  Progressive Waste Solutions of Florida, Inc. and Waste Management, Inc. of Florida have agreed to extend the contracts at the existing prices and terms.  The estimated expenditure for the five (5) month extension is $840,000.00.

There are no City-Certified M/WBE firms registered for this commodity.

Authorize the Chief Procurement Officer to execute an amendment to extend the contracts with Progressive Waste Solutions of Florida, Inc. and Waste Management, Inc. of Florida, as indicated above, subject to review and approval by the City Attorney’s Office.
