Summary:

On March 2, 2011, City Council approved the award of the subject contract with Sweetwater Environmental Services Inc. to provide hauling, land application or reuse of wastewater residuals for Iron Bridge Facility.  On March 14, 2016, City Council approved an extension of the current contract through September 30, 2016 to allow time to identify requirements.

Wastewater has now finalized the requirements and a new RFP is being issued.   To provide continuity of this critical service, Wastewater Division is requesting that the contract be extended for an additional four (4) months to allow time for the RFP process and contract execution.  Sweetwater Environmental Services, Inc. has agreed to extend the contract at the existing rates and charges.  The estimated expenditure for the extension is $440,000.00.

Sweetwater Environmental Services, Inc. agrees to continue to meet the M/WBE goals during the contract extension period.

Recommended Action:
Authorize the Chief Procurement Officer to execute an Amendment to extend the contract with Sweetwater Environmental Services, Inc., of Sebring, FL, as indicated above, subject to review and approval by the City Attorney's Office.
