Summary:
Downtown CREDO, in collaboration with the Families, Parks and Recreation Department, will recruit approximately 20 local artists for the Orlando Parks Project. Each artist will select a city park and create a work of art that interprets his or her experience at the park. The illustrations will then be printed and sold as limited edition posters, displayed at an Orlando Parks Project Exhibition, and compiled in a limited edition oversized coffee table book to be sold at the exhibition. Proceeds of the project will benefit Downtown CREDO and the Orlando Community & Youth Trust.
Based at its donations-only coffee shop in Orlando's College Park neighborhood, Downtown CREDO is a 501c(3) non-profit organization with a mission to improve the quality of lives in our nation's cities by cultivating networks of meaning, impact and community. Among other things, Downtown CREDO focuses locally on partnerships in the Parramore Heritage Community, including building and maintaining vegetable gardens, cleaning up streets, hosting dinner co-ops, refurbishing playgrounds, and tutoring children.
By approving this agenda item, City Council agrees to allow Downtown CREDO to use the City's name and logo as part of the Orlando Parks Project. |
