Award of 2016-2017 Intimate Violence Enhanced Service Team (InVEST) Grant

Summary:

Pursuant to the grant application approved by City Council on May 9, 2016, the City was awarded the FY 2016-2017 Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV) Intimate Violence Enhanced Service Team (InVEST) grant in the amount of $114,726.16. The funding source for the contract is the STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grant Program (VAWA/STOP). This award will fund a dedicated OPD domestic violence detective. OPD and Harbor House are parties to an existing MOU and have a working relationship that focuses on enhancing the safety of domestic and dating violence victims and increasing perpetrator accountability.

Recommended Action:
Approval and acceptance of the grant award by City Council and execution of all related documents, exhibits, and certification by the Mayor or Chief of Police, subject to review by the City Attorney's Office and the Grants Development Division.
