Summary:
The Transportation Engineering (TRE) Division is charged with ensuring the safe, efficient and balanced movement of people and goods through the permitting, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the City's transportation infrastructure. A critical part of this mission is the ensuring of vehicle and pedestrian traffic safety. Over the past five years, the TRE Division has been placing a special emphasis on the continuing efforts of data gathering; engineering analysis; coordinating with law enforcement, community stake holders, neighboring jurisdictions and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). These data are analyzed and solutions are then recommended, all with the goal of improving traffic safety.
To this end, the TRE Division has enlisted the assistance of Mr.Cesar Leirias, a graduate student in Civil Engineering, for the past five years. For the past year he has worked on a one year employment contract with the City as a Civil Engineer IV. Mr. Leirias' specific experience in Traffic Engineering and Statistics has been valuable in assisting this Division in its ongoing efforts in traffic safety analysis and improvements. The TRE Division seeks to enter into another One Year Employment Agreement, with Mr. Leirias, to continue the much needed analysis and improvements in the area of traffic safety. Mr. Leirias is currently a contract employee. |
