Summary:
The Florida Department of Transportation, "FDOT", and the City have previously entered into an Airspace Agreement providing for the City's use of the area located beneath the I-4 bridges in downtown Orlando, "Bridge District," for parking, sidewalks, landscaping, streetscape, transit stops and a public plaza. The Airspace Agreement also establishes a process for obtaining FDOT's approval for additional uses. The City is currently developing a new concept for use of the Bridge District referred to as the Under-I project, "Under I." The Under-I is an urban park development that will expand uses within the Bridge District to include athletic facilities, family time areas, public event space and local market space. Under the terms of the attached Memorandum of Agreement, "MOA," FDOT approves the Under-I in concept and agrees to process an amendment to the Airspace Agreement to allow for uses described therein and to support the City's request before the Federal Highway Administration. The MOA also provides for FDOT's approval of 3.5 million dollars in funding, subject to FDOT's approval of a standard funding agreement at a later date. |
