Subject:Ordinance 2016-25 Amending the Growth Management Plan to Change the Future Land Use Designation from Industrial to Mixed Use Corridor-Medium Intensity and Rezoning from I-G/T to MU-1/T for property located to the north of Brookhaven Drive, east of Alden Road, south of Virginia Drive and west of Ferris Avenue (The Yard-Crossman) (Economic Development)
Summary:

The attached ordinance will amend the Growth Management Plan by changing the future land use designation from Industrial to Mixed Use Corridor-Medium Intensity and rezoning from I-G/T to MU-1/T for approximately 1.7 acres located to the north of Brookhaven Drive, east of Alden Road, south of Virginia Drive and west of Ferris Avenue.

The Municipal Planning Board recommended approval the GMP amendment (Case #GMP2015-00049) and rezoning (Case #ZON2015-00048) on January 19, 2015.  The property is currently developed with commercial and industrial buildings.  The proposed amendments will accommodate the redevelopment of a larger 2.9 acre development site with 174 multi-family residential and 63,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space.

Recommended Action:

Approve the attached ordinance number 2016-25 on first reading and request that the Mayor and City Clerk present the draft ordinance for second reading and public hearing at the next regular City Council meeting.
