Summary:
The City finds it necessary to amend Part 4, Chapter 67 of the City Code to be consistent with the provisions listed in Florida Statute 420.9076 in regard to the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) membership, procedures and reports. The proposed amendment includes the following changes:
- Officers and Terms: Current City Code requires the AHAC members to serve terms of two years, with the option of serving up to two consecutive terms. This is being changed to Committee Members serving terms of three years, with the option of serving up to three consecutive terms.
- Committee Procedures: Current City Code requires monthly meetings. This is being changed whereby the Committee shall meet triennially beginning in the month of June in the year preceding the due date for the Local Housing Assistance Plan, and shall meet as often as necessary.
The AHAC is composed of eleven appointed members charged with reviewing City policy and procedures, land development regulations and adopted comprehensive plan, and recommending to the Mayor and City Council specific actions or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing. |
