Summary:
The City of Orlando is the owner of two airports, the Orlando International Airport and the Orlando Executive Airport. Effective October 1, 1976, the City entered into a fifty year Operation and Use Agreement, transferring the operation and control of these two airports (then the Orlando Jetport at McCoy and the Herndon Municipal Airport) to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA). GOAA is an entity created by a Special Act of the Florida Legislature, and codified as Chapter 16 of the Charter of the City of Orlando, for this purpose. The GOAA Board consists of the Mayor of the City of Orlando, the Orange County Mayor and five members appointed by the Governor.
The Amended and Restated Operation and Use Agreement is for a new term of 50 years to commence on October 1, 2015, ending September 30, 2065. |
