Summary:

Approval of signage at Harry P. Leu Gardens for Leu Gardens’ Art Exhibit sponsorships.

The Friends of Leu Gardens Inc. (The Friends) was established as a Florida not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation in September 1983 to support the Gardens and its mission.  The Friends have applied for a grant to help support a temporary installation of 8 to 24 feet bug sculptures throughout the Gardens, called David Rogers’ Big Bugs.  To offset the additional costs of the exhibit, The Friends is seeking approval from the City to secure sponsorships.  Sponsors would be permitted to have a small on-site recognition in the Gardens and any publicity materials for the installation.  Through the grant, its own financial contributions and sponsorships, The Friends is bearing all of the costs of this special installation which is expected to drive additional visitors to the Gardens during its peak season.

Recommended Action:
Approval of small on-site recognition for David Rogers’ Big Bugs sponsors for the duration of the three month temporary exhibit at Harry P. Leu Gardens.
