A bid was also received from SSE & Associates, Inc., dba Southeastern Surfaces and Equipment, however a substitute product was bid that was determined by Fleet and Facilities Division to not be an equal.
Line items 1 and 2 are for the replacement of the gym floor at the Dover Shores Community Center. Line Item 3 is an allowance for remedial concrete work that may be required once the existing wood flooring is removed.
The Fleet and Facilities Division and Procurement and Contracts Division have evaluated the bids and recommend that an award be made to Trident Surfacing, Inc., in the amount of $129,500.00, with an allowance of $5,000.00 for possible remedial work.
The MBE Office recommended that the M/WBE goals be waived for this project. There are no certified M/WBE firms that specialize in this line of work. Moreover, due to the specialized scope, a large portion of this work will be performed by the prime contractor with little work, if any, available to subcontract. |
Recommended Action:
Approval for the Chief Procurement Officer to award a Contract to Trident Surfacing, Inc., as indicated above, subject to review and approval by the City Attorney’s Office. |
