Subject:Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Community Planning Technical Assistance Grant
Summary:

The Economic Development Department is requesting authorization from City Council to submit an application for up to $30,000 in funding from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (FDEO) to implement aspects of the Florida Community Planning Act as part of the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Community Planning Technical Assistance Grant process.  If approved by the FDEO, the grant funding would be used for the following two activities:

·         Creation of a demonstration project on the Corrine Drive corridor to show a temporary change to the streetscape that implements complete streets planning principles; and

·         Preparation of complete streets policies that will be adopted into the City’s Growth Management Plan.

The application will consist of a letter of request with a proposed scope of work (including deliverables) that must be submitted to the FDEO by June 17, 2015. No match from the City of Orlando is required for this application.  Work associated with the proposed project must be completed no later than June 30, 2016. 

Fiscal and Efficiency Data:Fiscal Impact Statement will be completed at time of award.
Recommended Action:Authorization by City Council to proceed with preparation of the letter of request (application) for funding for the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Community Planning Technical Assistance Grant. The letter of request (application) shall be subject to review and approval by the Economic Development Department Director and City Attorney's Office prior to submittal to the FDEO.
