Application for funding from the FY 2015 U.S. Department of Justice, Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Hiring Grant

Summary:
The Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Hiring Grant will provide up to $125,000 to support the salary and fringe costs of a new police officer for 3 years. These funds will be used to add a new School Resource Officer, who will be assigned to Blankner Elementary School. The Orlando Police Department will provide at least 25% in matching funds to support this new officer.

Fiscal & Efficiency Data: FIS is not required at this time

Recommended Action:
Approval by City Council of the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Hiring Grant application and execution by the Mayor, subject to review and approval by the City Attorney's Office and the Grants Development Division.
