Summary:
On August 24, 2011, a Notice of Intent was provided in accordance with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Railroad Administration’s final rule regarding the use of Locomotive Horns at Highway-Rail Grade Crossings.
On September 17, 2012, the City of Orlando entered into a Locally Funded Agreement with the State of Florida Department of Transportation, for construction of the Central Florida Commuter Rail System. These improvements allowed for quiet zone operations of the railroad facility in the area of Florida Hospital.
This new Quiet Zone will be referenced as the Orlando North Quiet Zone. The Orlando North Quiet Zone shall go into effect starting July 21, 2015. The time period for the restrictions shall be twenty-four (24) hours a day.
