Summary:
On August 11, 2014, the City Council approved the application for the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Florida JAG Countywide Grant. The Orlando Police Department has been awarded $58,233.00 to use this grant to fund overtime for officers to staff a DUI Enforcement Team. The objective of this team is to efficiently and safely remove suspected DUI offenders and traffic violators from the highways by mobile, high visibility traffic enforcement tactics. The team consists of specially trained officers who conduct bi-weekly operations. |

Recommended Action:
Approval and acceptance of the grant award by City Council and execution by the Mayor of Certificate of Acceptance of Subgrant Award, subject to review and approval by the City Attorney's Office and the Grants Development Supervisor. |
