Church St. Streetscape, East Phase, Additional Contingency for Construction

Summary:
On February 25, 2013 Council approved a construction contract for $6,926,124.05 with Gibbs and Register for the Church St. Streetscape, East Phase, project.  The approved contingency in this contract was for 10% of the total or $692,612.41.   Due to recent impacts to the project along the corridor this amount needs to be exceeded.  Staff is requesting additional funding in the amount of $1,449,800.00 for these impacts which includes rerouting drainage piping, fill dirt and retention pond modifications.

Gibbs and Register has committed to providing 3.2% DBE participation for this contract.

Fiscal & Efficiency Data: This change to the project will be funded through contributions from the Public Works Stormwater Division.  Approval of fund transfer occurred at BRC, item 3-A on December 9, 2014.  

Recommended Action:
Recommend approval of the additional funding for the changes to project No. 1275023 in the amount of $1,449,800.00.  Authorize execution of the change order by City Staff subject to approval of the City Attorney's Office.  Request any future change orders follow current procurement code Section 7.202.
