| | | | | | | | Subject: | FY2014 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) | Summary: | The FY2014 Assistance to Firefighters Grant is issued by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The objective of the FY 2014 AFG Program is to award grants directly to fire departments for needed resources to protect the public and to train emergency personnel. The purpose of the AFG Program is to enhance through direct financial assistance, the health and safety of the public and firefighting personnel and to provide a continuum of support for emergency responders regarding fire, medical, and all hazard events. OFD will be applying for approximately $35,000.00 to provide officer safety training for Chief Officers and $35,000.00 to purchase jumpsuits for the hazmat team and technora fiber rope used in rapid intervention incidents. The total grant application will be for approximately $70,000.00.
