Ordinance 2014-38 Amending the Growth Management Plan to Change the Future Land Use Designation from Conservation to Urban Village for property located South and Southwest of the Intersection of Medical City Drive and Laureate Boulevard (Lake Nona GMP) (Economic Development)
Summary:
The proposed GMP amendment, located in the Lake Nona DRI, will change the future land use designation from Conservation to Urban Village. The subject site is generally located south of Laureate Boulevard, east of Boggy Creek Road, and north of the GOAA/Poitras property and is approximately 45.7 acres. This property was initially part of a proposed passive park. The amendment will accommodate the future expansion of the Sanford Burnham Institute of Medical Research and the extension of Medical City Drive to the south.

The Municipal Planning Board recommended approval of the GMP amendment (Case #GMP2012-00027) and associated DRI amendment (Case #DRI2012-00002) and PD amendment (Case #ZON2012-00023) on May 20, 2014.  

The DRI amendment and PD amendment will be part of separate ordinances that will go before the City Council at a later date.

Recommended Action:
Adopt the attached ordinance number 2014-38 and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk or Mayor Pro Tempore and City Clerk to execute on behalf of the City upon final review and approval by the City Attorney.
