Summary:
On October 16, 2014, Orlando City Soccer Club hosted their groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Orlando City Lions Soccer Stadium. As part of the ceremony, Orlando City installed a twenty-four (24) sq. ft. (4 ft. by 6 ft.) sign at the northwest corner of S. Parramore Avenue and W. Church Street. The sign includes a rendering of the future stadium, sponsor logos and language reading “Future Home of Orlando City”. In addition to the sign, Orlando City Soccer installed a purple air mesh scrim on the existing fence.
The Orlando City Soccer Club is requesting a temporary use permit to allow the sign and air mesh scrim to remain on the site until a building permit for the construction of the soccer stadium is issued. Once building construction commences, the sign face may be amended to include construction related language and may be relocated on the site to a more central location. In addition, the existing fence will be replaced with a construction fence outlining the entire construction site. (LDC2014-00297).
Approval of the Temporary Use Permit to allow a “Future Home” site sign and purple mesh scrim on an existing fence is subject to the following conditions:
1.Consistency – The proposed sign and scrim shall be consistent in size, dimension, site location and appearance as depicted on the documents submitted and as outlined above.
2. Temporary Use Permit – This approval is granted on a temporary basis, to expire one year from the date of City Council approval or upon issuance of a City of Orlando building permit for the construction of the new stadium, whichever occurs first. |
