Summary:
Florida Citrus Sports is a not-for-profit member-based organization, which produces four signature events in the Orlando area each year. The Organization originated with the establishment of the Tangerine Bowl in 1946. The original purpose of the game was to benefit the Florida Elks Children's Hospital for disabled children. More than 50 years later, the organization has evolved into what is today Florida Citrus Sports. The Organization continues its charitable outreach through the various events Florida Citrus Sports produces each year.
The City's contribution of $50,000 will assist Florida Citrus Sports in hosting two of their four signature events: Russell Athletic Bowl (f/k/a Champs Sports Bowl) and the Orlando Citrus Parade. In exchange for this contribution, the City will receive four (4) (10) second promotional mentions featuring the City of Orlando during the Russell Athletic Bowl game telecast. In addition, the City will receive a Citrus Float Entry in the annual Orlando Citrus Parade, one full minute of guaranteed coverage of the City of Orlando float during the parade and one (1) 30 second television commercial during the syndicated Florida Citrus Parade broadcast.
Florida Citrus Sports will also receive $10,000 in special event funding from the Downtown Development Board this fiscal year. |
