The Fiscal Year 2014-2017 City of Orlando budget allocates $438,226 ($1.75 per capita) x (250,415 BEBR 2013 Population) to support the efforts of the Economic Development Commission of Mid Florida, Inc. d/b/a Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission (EDC). In the metro Orlando region, economic development efforts are led by the EDC, a public-private partnership organization. The EDC also serves as the region’s Film Commission, and works with film and television producers seeking film locations, permits and other services.

The EDC’s work with companies and individuals outside the region is multi-faceted. On a national and international level, promotional activities designed to reach prospects and clients include: trade shows, sales missions, reverse investment and export seminars, direct mail, social media strategies, print and online advertising, media story placement, customized client collateral, maintenance of three websites, production and distribution of  print publications, and much more. In addition to marketing, the EDC works directly with prospects and clients to provide site selection services, statistical data, permitting assistance, access to workforce training and financing resources, and access to state and local incentive programs.

The attached FY 2014-2017 Master Agreement sets forth the terms and conditions of the agreement between the City and EDC as well as specific performance measures that are included in Article 1.

In addition to the City's $438,226 contribution, the EDC will receive additional funding support ranging from $271,000 to $1.1 million from Orange County, Seminole County, Lake County and Osceola County.
