Subject:Ordinance 2014-38 Amending the Growth Management Plan to Change the Future Land Use Designation from Conservation to Urban Village for property located South and Southwest of the Intersection of Medical City Drive and Laureate Boulevard (Lake Nona GMP) (Economic Development)
Summary:The proposed GMP amendment, located in the Lake Nona DRI, will change the future land use designation from Conservation to Urban Village. The subject site is generally located south of Laureate Boulevard, east of Boggy Creek Road, and north of the GOAA/Poitras property and is approximately 45.7 acres. This property was initially part of a proposed passive park. The amendment will accommodate the future expansion of the Sanford Burnham Institute of Medical Research and the extension of Medical City Drive to the south.

The Municipal Planning Board recommended approval of the GMP amendment (Case #GMP2012-00027) and associated DRI amendment (Case #DRI2012-00002) and PD amendment (Case #ZON2012-00023) on May 20, 2014.  

The DRI amendment and PD amendment will be part of separate ordinances.

Recommended Action:Approval of the attached ordinance number 2014-38 on first reading and request that the Mayor and City Clerk present the draft ordinance for second reading and public hearing at a future City Council meeting after review by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
