Summary:
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) is a formula grant that provides funding for local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support and information systems to support law enforcement programs. OPD plans to use this grant to fund overtime for officers to staff a DUI Enforcement Team. The objective of this team is to efficiently and safely remove suspected DUI offenders and traffic violators from the highways by mobile, high visibility traffic enforcement tactics. The team consists of specially trained officers who conduct bi-weekly operations. The City of Orlando anticipates receiving approximately $58,233.00, which will allow OPD to staff a DUI Enforcement Team. |
