Summary:
In 2006, the Water Conserv II Partners (City of Orlando and Orange County) leased approximately 80 acres of land to the Orange County School Board for the production of hay for the use in the schools’ agricultural education. The property is located in Lake County on Five Mile Road; north of Schofield Road; between the Lake/Orange County line to the east, and U. S. Highway 27 to the west (see attached Map).
The lease payment was $1 per year and the five-year term expired in 2011. The Orange County Future Farmers of America (OCFFA) Alumni Association approached the Conserv II partners about a new lease on the same property, also for hay production for use in agricultural education at Orange County schools. All profits from hay sales will be used to directly support agricultural education.
The lease agreement will allow the OCFFA Alumni Association to grow hay on the property for a period of three (3) years. The lease provides for an option to renew based on mutually acceptable terms. The annual lease payment is $1. Under the lease terms, the OCFFA Alumni Association will pay $0.31/thousand gallons for the use of reclaimed water for hay field irrigation. During the term of the lease, the Conserv II partners will not incur land management costs associated with the 80 acres involved in the lease. |
