Subject:
Sodexo Feeding Our Future Summer Meal Program

Summary:

The Sodexo Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that works to ensure that every child in the United States, especially those at risk, grows up with dependable access to enough nutritious food to enable them to lead a healthy, productive life. Twenty-seven percent of Orlando’s children live in below the poverty level, and these children are at risk of hunger.

Locally, SodexoMAGIC is collaborating with the City of Orlando, the Sodexo Foundation and Gordon Food Service to implement the Feeding Our Future Program to help fight hunger at three (3) of the City's Recreation Centers this summer- Rosemont, Ivey Lane, and Northwest. We anticipate serving 12,250 meals over the 10-week period to children under the age of 18 participating in activities at those sites after 5:30 p.m.

In addition to providing meals daily, SodexoMAGIC will host a cooking demonstration at each location to promote healthy eating and positive food choices. Participants will receive recipes to take home so that they can prepare healthy meals with their families.

Mayor Dyer will call upon Lisa Early to introduce Alejandro Fonseca, Sodexo’s Vice President of Operations, and Jackie Sharp, SodexoMAGIC Wellness Director. Mr. Fonseca will say a few words on behalf of Sodexo.

Ms. Early will then invite Mayor Dyer, District 3 Commissioner Robert Stuart and District 5 Commissioner Regina Hill to come from the dais to take pictures with the Sodexo team and youth from the Rosemont and Ivey Lane Community Centers.
